We are recruiting Research Analysts and Statisticians to support doctoral-level clients through the thesis and dissertation process. Both roles are long-term, flexible engagements suited to academics who enjoy rigorous research and analysis.
Research Analyst
Research Analysts support clients across the written components of their studies:
- Topic selection: identifying research gaps, framing a valid problem statement, justifying the purpose of a study, and selecting a theoretical or conceptual framework
- Methodological development: choosing the optimal qualitative methodology, such as grounded theory, content analysis, or phenomenology
- Literature reviews: sourcing recent literature, building outlines and annotated bibliographies, and drafting the review
- Expansions: developing preliminary work into complete chapters
- Content changes: revising existing work in line with committee comments
- Multi-part projects combining any of the above, including correcting earlier errors
Comfort researching academic literature through online databases such as Google Scholar or ERIC is essential and is weighted even more heavily than the other requirements.
Statistician
Statisticians handle larger and more complex analyses:
- Designing and drafting a valid statistical methodology, covering sample, population, instrumentation, and data collection and analysis procedures
- Running analyses in standard statistical packages, then drafting and interpreting the results
- Strong applied mathematics or statistics background, with proficiency in applied statistics and hypothesis testing
- Familiarity with SPSS, and preferably also R, SAS, and/or STATA
- High-level statistical consulting experience in a professional environment; no training is provided
Shared requirements
- A meticulous nature and an extremely high attention to detail
- Excellent command of the English language
- A doctorate or higher; most of our analysts hold advanced graduate degrees
- Statisticians must hold or be actively pursuing graduate qualifications in statistics, applied mathematics, data analytics, or a similar field, along with relevant experience
- All deliverables must be submitted in a presentable, professional format
